ADK SNOW FALLS CHALLENGE 10/5/1

A winter waterfall challenge variation on the ADK Fifty Falls and NYS 100+ Challenges, hosted by EXPEDITION MIDLIFE and co-sponsored by DIG THE FALLS.

  • To be completed during the winter hiking season.  Visit 10 Roadsides, 5 Modest hikes, and 1 Challenging hike between Dec 21 and March 21.
  • Submit a SAFELY taken selfie at each location to admin@expeditionmidlife.com

*Note about safety and selfies- please don’t feel obligated to climb down into ravines or close to the water’s edge to take that ‘amazing’ picture.  Winter conditions only elevate nature’s hazards.  Just give us a pic of you loving what you see from a safe spot.  It’s all good- we believe you.

  • Purchase your ADK Snowfalls Challenge patch using the PayPal button below ($10 per patch) and we will send you your patch and sticker.  (Note: please allow 2 weeks for delivery.)
  • Tag us on your journey on Instagram! @Expedition_Midlife #expedition_midlife #expeditionmidlife #adksnowfallschallenge #patchpursuit #digthefalls

NOTE: This challenge is entirely independent from the ADK Fifty Falls and all other waterfall challenges. All queries and comments should be directed to Expedition Midlife ONLY by email to admin@expeditionmidlife.com

THE FALLS:

Visit your choice of 10 roadsides, 5 modest hikes and 1 challenge hikes.

The links below will take you to details of each fall.  For more information, we recommend purchasing the original ADK Fifty Falls Challenge guide book by John Haywood and Russell Dunn, and New York State Waterfall Guide by John Haywood, Donna L. McCabe, Edward Smathers, Paul Swiatkowski.  You can find them on Amazon.

Please be advised that while it is the frozen falls we are eager for people to see, it is the winter conditions that will make this a major challenge for some. Even roadsides may require maneuvering over snow banks and deep snow. DO YOUR OWN PREPERTORY RESEARCH! Always check weather and road conditions before heading out and wear appropriate winter gear (including micro spikes and snowshoes). Never park illegally and obey all property signs. We advise against hiking alone any time of the year, but especially in winter.
